InfoStation Troubleshooting

If there is a problem with an InfoStation that the local department support contact can not resolve, InfoPath and the Library Help Desk should be contacted.  InfoPath will investigate the help desk call.  If it is software related problem, then InfoPath will attempt to resolve the issue; if InfoPath determines that the problem is due to failed hardware, the call will be transferred to systems for completion.

Interface Maintenance

If a location wants a change to the side bar navigation on the Interface, an update of the bookmark file, or other minor modification, they should contact InfoPath and the Library Systems Help Desk.  Most maintenance activities will be completed within two weeks.

New Feature Programming/Development

Sorry, no development form yet.

If a new feature is required on an InfoStation; such as a new plug-in, helper, program, or specialized interface programming; it should be discussed in the InfoStation Planning Group. One may also contact the help desk to schedule a consult call on the new feature you would like.

Produce New InfoStation

New InfoStations are produced according to discussions in the InfoStation Planning Group and other planning activities.  The production and deployment of a new InfoStation requires coordination between Systems, InfoPath, and the local public service department.  Systems orders and modifies the hardware, delivers the hardware to the installation site, and manages network facilities issues.  The local department is responsible for furniture, security, power, printer issues, an the overall layout of the InfoStation deployment area.  InfoPath assists the local department in setting up the InfoStations and is responsible for installing the software and maintaining the InfoStations.

Convert PC to InfoStation

It may be possible to convert an existing PC to a full InfoStation.  If this is not possible for some reason, it may be possible to 'emulate' an InfoStation by running just the InfoStation Interface.  If a candidate PC is accepted into the InfoStation network, InfoPath will be responsible for the remote management and maintenance of the system.  InfoPath will not be responsible for PC's emulating an InfoStation by running the InfoStation Interface.  Acceptance into the InfoStation network shall be at the discretion of InfoPath and Systems.
